Parent & Child Relationship

Models for our Children

Self-care and well-being for the caregiver translates into space for a healthy and functioning relationship with our children.

We are the models for our children.  As parents, we are ‘on’ all the time and our audience is our children. At the most stressful times  will we respond calmly or react to challenges?

Is your child sensitive, having difficulty coping with changes, school and peers, withdrawing or acting out at times for no apparent reason?

Partnering with families to facilitate learning through modelling sessions in both the office, but with the focus on working mostly in the home environment, we can help provide tools that can strengthen the parent-child relationship.

We will explore...

  • Strategies to prevent escalations

  • How to respond as escalations occur

  • Tools to support your child to become more cooperative with peers, and responsive to adult requests

  • How to respond in a manner that tells your child you love them and care while at the same time be able to be firm and set boundaries

Wellness for the Sensitive Child

Emotional abilities

Child self-regulation and social-emotional skills are learned through the co-regulation of a healthy, calm adult.

From societal stressors including multi-tasking, over-scheduling to the impact of technology on our child’s minds, we live in a complex environment. It is difficult to maintain our sanity, never mind moving forward in our goals.

Our philosophy is strength-based and family centred.  We emphasize prevention and intervention strategies to reduce the tension in the household and a reactive style of parenting. If the emotional challenges can be eliminated, the focus can be on spending quality, loving time with your child.

Healthy children come from healthy and well parents

We will explore...

  • Increasing the understanding of our own and our child's coping styles, triggers & emotional functioning
