Parent & Child Relationship

Models for our Children

Parents know their children best. Caring for children is both challenging and rewarding. No one is born with perfect parenting skills, and yet there is shame when not knowing the answers.

Self-care and well-being for you translates into space for healthy and functioning relationships with your child. Taking care of self is the best gift we can give others.

You are the model for your child. Parents are ‘on’ all the time and your audience is your child. At the most stressful times will you respond calmly or react to challenges?

Is your child sensitive, having difficulty coping with changes, school and peers, withdrawing or acting out?

Mentoring sessions focus on restoration and strengthening family relations in office and natural environments.

We will explore...

  • Reducing escalations through preventative strategies

  • Responding  to escalations

  • Social skill development for children (cooperative, responsible,  responsive to adult requests)

  • Building a family of connections: Love and boundaries.

Wellness for the Sensitive Child

Social-Emotional Abilities

Child self-regulation and social-emotional skills are learned through the co-regulation of a healthy, calm adult.

Societal stressors including global concerns (pandamic, climate), multi-tasking, over-scheduling and the impact of technology on our minds, we live in a complex environment. It is difficult to maintain our sanity, never mind moving forward in our goals.

The philosophy is strength-based and family centred with a goal to reduce overall household tension and a reactive style of parenting. Once emotional strife is eliminated, loving and engaging moments with your child emerge.

Healthy children come from healthy and well-balanced parents.

We will explore...

  • Coping styles, triggers & emotional functioning

  • Habits, rituals and routines

  • Self-calming tools for the agitated child

  • Small changes in your home environment to build more calmness, stability and community

Sensitive    Children

Engaged Children

Challenging perceptions and building trust with your sensitive child requires you to examine and ask questions of yourself.

Is my home a community where we all contribute or am I doing all the work?

Have I examined my own triggers and thus don’t get into power struggles and risk my connection with my child?

Am I reduced to using threat and punishment to discipline my child?

Am I teaching my child responsibility or obedience?

How is my relationship with my child?

Do we still have fun together?

We will explore...

  • Attachment & relationship building

  • Language and it's powerful impacts

  • Importance of relationship, rhythm, routines and repetition

  • Restorative communication and empowering strategies for your child

  • Emotional regulation, mindfulness & perspective-taking
